Does refinishing work?
Yes, if the work is done properly it will last as long as 20 years. Be aware, this is an alternative to costly replacement, which could cost as much as 5000 dollars. There is no surface which will last forever, not even porcelain.

Do you offer colors other than white?
Surface Pros can custom match virtually any color, from deep shades to delicate pastels, at an additional low cost.

We can match virtually any popular brand name color to complete your interior decoration vision, including colors by American Standard, Behr, DuPont, Glidden, Kohler, Ralph Lauren, Lesco, Sherwin Williams and many more! In addition we have dozens of Multi-Stone finishes that produce the stone or granite like finish so popular in today’s kitchens and bathrooms.

I have shower doors. Do they have to be removed?
The doors do, but not the tracks. There is no warranty in track area if they are left on. We strongly recommend removing them, if you are unable to, we can remove them for you at an additional charge. You may want to make sure your old doors are safety proof glass. Look for a stamp on the glass that says "Safety Glass" or "Tempered

I have rust spots in my tub. Can this be repaired?
Yes, but cannot be guaranteed for further rusting. We do our best to prevent this but sometimes cannot be stopped from future rusting.

Does the process have an odor?
It has an odor equivalent to the smell of nail polish. When we set up our equipment, a ventilation fan is installed in your bathroom window. If there is not a window available we will set up a powerful ventilation machine to help remove any objectionable odors.

What can I use to clean my new surface with?
We recommend several cleaners that will be safe for your newly refinished surface.

Can I use a bath mat?
We do not recommend the use of bathmats on a refinished bathtub.  Surface Pros offers a permanent Slip Resistant Surface that will match your bathtubs newly refinished surface and it will not hold germs and bacteria like bathmats will.

What should I do to prepare the bathroom before you arrive?
The shower doors or curtains need to be removed, all items in the shower area, counter tops, back of toilet, rugs, and any window treatments should be removed as well. This will help us in the ability to properly protect your bathroom.

What is the process you use for refinishing?
We thoroughly sand, clean and repair chips, cracks, holes, rust, burns, etc... In porcelain, cast iron, steel, fiberglass, cultured marble, or Formica surface/fixtures. We again clean the surface, completely mask off the existing fixture and the surrounding area. Next our technicians bond, prime, and apply several coats of our acrylic coating which produces a hard, shiny, long lasting finish that looks brand new.

How long will it last? Fixtures refinished by Surface Pros should easily last 10 to 15 years with proper care and maintenance.

How long will it take?
A standard size bathtub in reasonable condition will take around 4 to 6 hours to refinish. The tub can be ready to use within 12 hours (in commercial locations, using special curing procedures) but we normally recommend leaving the surface cure for 24 hours for the best hardening

Will refinishing Stop mildew?
Yes! The grout lines are sealed against moister and the whole system becomes almost zero maintenance.

Is this the same material that I can buy in a home improvement store?
No. This is a specially formulated series of coatings that are all designed to work together. The durability, hardness, and texture of our applied coatings are far superior to the kits of epoxy that are sold in home improvement stores.

What if my bathtub has been refinished before?
All old resurfacing material should be removed down to the original base before refinishing the area again. There is an additional charge for this service.

Do you change plumbing fixtures?
Surface Pros installs new drains and overflow caps.

Why does Surface Pros replace the drains?
There are several reasons why we insist on either removing and replacing the drain or installing a drop-in drain kit. The drain area is the most susceptible to wear. Remember when a bathtub is manufactured, its porcelain finish is applied without the drain installed. To have a seamless finish we must remove the old drain. If we feel that removing the old drain will possibly create damage , we install a new chrome drop-in drain. The second reason we replace the drains is appearance. You have a beautiful newly refinished tub. Why would you want to reinstall an old, dull, dated drain and overflow cap?

What about heat on the counter top?
Your refinished counter top can withstand temperatures of several hundred degrees. However, prolonged exposure to high heat can damage your Formica counter top.

Do you offer a warranty?
Yes! Surface Pros offers a 5 year residential and 1 year commercial warranty on all of our resurfacing. We provide a written guarantee that the surface will not peel or chip on its own. Please refer to our Warranty information page for complete details.
